Every day has God moments…

you just have to be aware of His presence.

How often do you experience God moments in your life? Hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, never?  What might help you enjoy“God moments” as you go about your day to day living? How can you become more aware? What difference could that make in your quality of life?

God says He is an ever present help in time of need.  He whispers in our ear, “This is the way, walk in it.”  Let’s explore three ways you can become more aware of His presence in your daily life to enhance your quality of life.

Notice the moments and be fully present

What is a moment?  According to the dictionary, a moment is a comparatively brief period of time, experienced in the present, that can have importance in influence or effect.    You may or may not immediately recognize the moment as important, but in reflecting back, you realize the quality or character of the moment makes it a point in time to remember.

In your journey with God, there may be points in time that you can point to that were stand out moments, often called “mountain-top experiences” in Christian literature.  That certainly is one type of sacred God moment, when you know precisely what shifted for you – in heart, mind or soul.

However, each day is made up of a series of moments. By asking God to show Himself to you, those “God moments” begin to show up more frequently.  How would that impact your life?  More peace?  More calm?  More hope?

For example, I recently had anxious moments with my brother over a serious, life-threatening surgery he had experienced.  What I didn’t realize was how it triggered memories of my father from 50 years ago. He had died in the hospital of a heart attack after a serious surgery.  As I was talking to the ICU nurse, those memories were triggered, dealt with, and I was made to realize how different the situation was and able to let the anxiety go.  I recognized this God moment to let go of emotions I didn’t know I had buried from long ago.

What made it even more of a God moment afterwards was talking with my long-time girlfriend later.  She had prayed specifically about my emotions around my dad and the comparison of his situation to my brother.  God had prompted her to pray before I had my talk with the nurse!  I love when I find out how God is working behind the scenes on my behalf.

It is that kind of being in the moment that can give peace, calm and hope.

Become aware to see God and where He is at work

By being fully present in the moment, seeing God happens more and more frequently.

Awareness lets you become alive to God and acutely sensitive to Him.  You realize, perceive and gain knowledge of where, when and how He is at work around you.  You seek out opportunities to see Him at work and join Him.

I compare awareness of God moments akin to taking blinders off.  As you pray, “God give me eyes to see and ears to hear,” He honors those prayers.

What happens when you become aware of God at work around you?  When have you noticed awareness bringing clarity into your own life or into the lives of others?

For example, during intercessory prayer, God often brings people to mind.  When checking in with them later, I find out that there is an issue of some sort with which they were struggling.  By being sensitive and aware of what the Holy Spirit is prompting, I can join God where He is at work.

I am grateful to be part of the prayer awareness to let them know God prompted me to pray for them.  He sees their struggles and sends others, like myself, alongside to pray with them.  We just have to be aware and listening.

What happens when you pray for others?  What clarity and encouragement does God bring to you and to others?

Sensing His felt presence

As you become more fully present in the moment and aware of where God is at work, you’ll begin to sense His presence more and more.  Psalm 62:7 describes

His wrap around presence is all I need, for the Lord is my Savior, my hero, and my life-giving strength.  TPT

I love the descriptor of His wrap-around presence.  As you seek Him and practice more moments with Him, you begin to sense His wrap-around presence and feel his life-giving strength..

Some people describe His presence as warmth flowing over them.  Others have described thoughts that they would have never thought of.  While others describe a still small voice. His presence can be noticed through words from the Bible that seem to leap off the page.  God shows Himself to you and others in many different ways.

The point is that if you seek Him and acknowledge Him, He can and will make Himself known to you in very real ways. He honors that belief.

Of course, you do need to quiet your heart, your mind and your body often to see, hear and feel His presence. You have to be listening to have those types of conversations.

For me, breathe prayer, is the simplest, most direct way I sense His presence and know that He is with me throughout my day.

What about you?

Which of these areas seem to be the most challenging to you?  Moments to be fully present?  Becoming aware of where He is at work?  Sensing His felt presence?

By experimenting with a few of these practices and truly asking Him to reveal Himself, your eyes will be opened and your ears will hear new things.
