Every day you can have God conversations –

you just have to become aware.

What if each day you noticed God speaking to you throughout your day – a knowing in your being that you are not alone? What if you could have those conversations with God continually?

You can have that kind of day, each and every day, not just once in a while.  It takes awareness, intention, expectancy and practice.

You can live freely and lightly in His presence, hearing God’s voice more and more. The eyes of your heart will come open and you will have more sensitive ears to hear.

Are you ready?

Start Your Day with God Conversations

The Lord can always be trusted to show mercy each morning. Lamentations 3:23 CEV

How do you begin your day with God?  Or do you?  No worries or judgment here.  Pause to wonder where God is in your thinking when you get up each morning.

Do you give Him a quick hello?  Let Him know a brief, Lord I need your help today in this?  Or sit down and spend some time talking about the day before you and listening for Him?

God wants to meet with each of us so much more than we could ever imagine.  He delights in each one of us.

How do you think He views you?  When have you asked Him?

When you begin to read the Bible as a love letter to you, believing God will speak His words of love and care over you, life will change.

The Psalms are a great place to start.  Many are the prayers and cries of David’s heart – real, honest and authentic.  Reading them aloud and noticing what stands out to you is like having Him read a letter to you.  Each morning will be something for you to ponder throughout the day.

After reading the Psalm the first time, read it again as to what your role is in the Psalm.  What is God asking of you?  And finally read it a third time.  What is God promising He will do?

This type of three readings is called Lectio Divina or Sacred Reading.  God can and will speak to you through His word.

At Noon Have God Conversations

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23 NLT

To stay aware of God’s fingerprints throughout your day, you can establish a conversation rhythm.  Noon time is a great time to engage your body by taking some deep breathes and noticing what you need from God.

You can connect in conversation through breathe prayer.  Think about what fruit of the spirit (peace, love, gentleness, joy, goodness, patience, love, faithfulness, self-control) you might need at that moment.  Then decide what character of God you most identify.

Could it be Immanuel ( God is with us), King of Kings, Abba Father, Holy One? What name for Him do you want to focus upon today?

For example, you can inhale, Abba Father. Then exhale bring love. This prayer helps during a particularly trying day.  Do this several times, inhale, exhale.  Imagine Abba Father’s arms around you and the warmth of His love.  Notice how you and your body feel after the prayer.

A breathe prayer takes all of 5 minutes but can be repeated throughout the day.  Set your alarm on your phone to remind you to get into the rhythm of this God moment.

Here are more details on how to practice Breathe Prayer

Before Bed Have More God Conversations

The last stop on your day’s journey of conversations with God is in the evening before bed.

An Awareness Examen Prayer can be done fairly quickly.  If you find yourself too tired at night, a review of your day can be done the first thing the next morning..  It’s an imaginative prayer taken of your day.

You sit comfortably up in your bed before turning out the light or in a chair where it is quiet.  Ask Jesus to help you revisit your day.  What would He like to point out to you?

Go back through your day and notice where you felt close to God and Jesus in your activities, thoughts and emotions.  What is happening?  Pretend to run a movie camera through your day.

Where were spots where you felt further away from God and Jesus.  What is happening there?  What kept you at a distance?  What would you like to say to Jesus now?  What does He want to say to you?

As you finish reviewing your day, give gratitude for ways you saw His fingerprints and confess where you’d like to do things differently.  Receive His love and grace over things you hope to change.

Go to bed or start your day, feeling more free and light.

What about you?

How might you incorporate a rhythm like this into your day?  Start with whatever part of the day feels most doable to you and develop your practice there first..

A morning reading of the scriptures with lectio questions, using your head?

Or breathe prayer pause at noon, accessing your body and soul?

Or the imaginary awareness run through of your day with Jesus at the end of the day, using more of your emotions?

Start with the expectancy of hearing from God and the arena that is most comfortable for you.

By doing so, you create an awareness that lets you converse with God through your head, body/soul and heart all through the day.

God would love to meet with you.  He has things to share with you beyond your imagination.
